One Million Acts of Science in One Month!
Everyone, everywhere, is invited to take part in the One Million Acts of Science challenge this April during Citizen Science Month.
What is Citizen Science Month?
Citizen Science Month is a month-long, global celebration of the people, projects, and perspectives powering public engagement in scientific research. While SciStarter connects people to projects year-round, each April, we partner with scientists, educators, community organizations, companies, media, and more than 500,000 volunteers to generate One Million Acts of Science!
What is an Act of Science?
An "Act of Science" refers to participation in activities that contribute to scientific research, also known as citizen science. Anyone can join! By sharing local observations, we help scientists answer important questions. In April, Acts of Science expand beyond research participation: attend events, join projects that accelerate medical research, analyze images, share nature photos, or use your smartphone to monitor the environment. All these actions count! It’s easy and rewarding for you and science!
Here’s how to get involved:
Visit CitizenScienceMonth.org. Whether you want to participate in projects, help others get involved, or feature your own project, there's a way for everyone to engage.
Create a SciStarter account. Go to SciStarter.org/login and create your account. This will allow you to find, save, and prepare for April with projects that interest you. With an account, you can also submit projects and events at SciStarter.org/add.
Participate in April! Between April 1st - April 30th, 2025, join any projects or events featured on CitizenScienceMonth.org. We’ll send you an email reminder! You’ll also find a curated calendar of thematic events and projects that can be done from anywhere.
Report your Acts! Before the end of April, report your Acts of Science on CitizenScienceMonth.org. We’ll include your name on the site to recognize your efforts! All throughout April, you can watch the number of Acts of Science grow on CitizenScienceMonth.org and celebrate when we reach ONE MILLION!
